Read the label first
Look for washing temperature, drying instructions, and restrictions on detergents or treatments. Decorative cuffs, embroidery, and grip coatings may call for different handling. If the label is missing or unclear, ask the brand before trying a treatment.
Check socks after each class for dirt, loose decoration, damage, or grip material that is coming away. A washing routine cannot repair a worn or damaged sole.
Take a gentle approach
Where the label allows washing, use a gentle method and avoid unnecessary heat or abrasion. Separating delicate socks from zippers, hooks, and rough items can help avoid snagging. Turning a washable pair inside out or using a mesh bag may be useful if the label permits.
Do not assume bleach, fabric softener, ironing, or aggressive stain removers are suitable. Check the instructions before using them, particularly around grips and embroidery.
Dry completely before storing
Follow the drying symbol. If air drying is permitted, let the pair dry fully in a ventilated place away from direct heat. Do not leave damp socks in a closed gym bag between classes.
Once dry, store the pair together without stretching the cuff over another object. Before your next class, check that the sole is clean and the sock still stays in place on your foot.
